The Final Days Of Summer Day Camp 2007

Our last 2 weeks of summer day camp were fantastic.
The 5th week we had a worship day, in which the kids had an opportunity to praise God in many different ways. Some drew pictures, some danced and some wrote what was on their heart and taped it to a cross we had set up. It was great to see how they have a real understanding of who God is and why we worship him.

Our field trip that week was at the San Francisco Zoo, we had an absolute blast! The kids really enjoyed seeing all the different animals, eating cotton candy and of course talking to everyone on the bus on the way to the zoo!

Week 6 we had a day where we set up a time for kids to ask for prayer or if they had any questions about accepting Jesus. Most kids came up for prayer for their families, and we had 4 kids come up and tell us they wanted Jesus in their heart! So we had the privilege of praying with each of them, and sharing with them more about who God is. It was such a blessing.

Our very last field trip was a Bbq at Candlestick Point, all of the families were invited and we spent the day just hanging out with eachother, playing baseball and
eating good food!

It was a bittersweet goodbye at the end of the day, some of the kids we will see throughout the year, but others we probably won't see until next summer. Please continue praying for them.

We had an amazing time this summer! God really worked in the kids lives and in our lives as well. Thanks you so much for those of you who prayed and supported us. Camp would not have been possible without you all.

Blessings,

This week at camp we set a side time to pray with and for each child. The kids who have been to camp before really look forward to this day. One of our girls said that, "she loved this day because it gave her a chance to seek God with other people, hearing what God is saying to her about her life". It was an exciting time for all of us! The fruits of this, I'm sure, will be seen in the future.
The team that came to help us this week was amazing! Not only did we (the staff) love them, but the kids absolutely adored them, and were sad to see them go.

Our field trip for this week was spent at Coyote Point. This may have been the favorite field trip thus far this summer. We played at the park for a bit and then we went through the muesuem, which was all about nature and the environment. This was followed by seeing all sorts of animals from badgers, lizards, snakes, skunks, to even bobcats and porcupines. The rest of the afternoon we went to the huge playground. It was a wonderful field trip!

week three: hearing the voice of God

" Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her there."
Hosea 2:14
The theme for this week was Hearing the voice of God and Hosea 2:14 was the main verse we were concentrating on. Although this was the over-all theme, everyday we focused on different aspects of hearing the voice of God, for example reading the bible, taking things to God & worshiping God through different ways. The children had an amazing prayer session in the middle of the week when we were looking at taking things to God. The children wrote down all the things that were burdening them on pieces on paper, which as leaders we then prayed over. It was an incredible response and God really started to answer prayers.
Also this week a police man came from the Bay Area and spoke to the kids about his career and the different aspects to it. They all really enjoyed it and asked loads of questions; a couple of the children even said they would like to be a police officer when they grow up, which showed the great interest in his career. By doing this, we wanted the kids to learn about different professions and try to get them excited about future prospects.
On Friday, we spent the morning playing games at the church and watching a movie. The time spent was much enjoyed. In the afternoon we took a train to a pet camp in the area. The children got to see all different sizes and breeds of dogs and cats, and were able to pet the animals and be with them in their environment. All had a good time and it was a great end to a blessed week.

Week 2

  • This week our focus was sharing with the kids what the plans of God and the enemy is.
Our bible lessons focused on how the Lord has great plans for them and their lives and desires to see them come to know him. Also how the enemy only speaks lies to them and doesn't want them to become who God made all of them to be. The kids seemed to respond really well to the lessons and were very open with what they thought God wanted for them in their future.
We also had some great times of worship. We sing songs like "Awesome God" and " We Worship You". The kids love being able to dance, shake the shakers and play the harmonicas.
  • We had alot of new kids come this past week, we now have about 35 kids registred and between 16-25 that come every day. It's such a blessing to be a part of these kids lives and be able to show them the Father's love.

  • On Friday we went to the Hyde Street Pier to see all the old boats.
Some of them were over 100 years old! The kids really enjoyed being able to explore the ships. We also hung out at the pier for a while, took some pictures, looked at the sea lions and enjoyed the sights. We then had a long bus ride home which at the end of all of us were ready for a nap.

It was a great 2nd week!

week 1: Awesome God

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light." -1 Peter 2:9

The theme for the first week of Summer Day Camp was 'Awesome God.' The Bible lessons that were presented to the kids throughout the week emphasized this message and different aspects of our awesome God, as well as incorporating the whole theme of the summer, which is 'freedom.' During the regular camp schedule (Monday-Thursday), the kids attending played crazy games to start the day, worshiped the Lord with lots of dancing and singing, actively listened and got involved with the Bible teachings, made crafts relating to the lesson of the day, played sports, learned new life skills, and were able to be creative either through writing, painting, or using salt dough.

The field trip location for Friday was Randall Museum. The kids learned about several animals through a presentation, then were able to read about and view different species and things of nature that were displayed in the building. While at the museum, the majority of the children also trekked up a large rock that overlooked the beautiful city.
